Music: Making Music (Elective)

OVERVIEW

Having fun making music on your own or in a group, either as a singer or an instrumentalist, and building a set of vocal skills, instrumental skills, ensemble skills, or composing skills is the main aim of this unit. This unit is suitable for both beginners and advanced musicians, and class tasks will be designed to fit around each student’s musical needs, background, strength and experience. Students will learn various rudimentary musical skills that contribute to a successful performance, such as ear training, the basic music theory, and analysis. Students also will explore various genre and style of music to help them broaden their musical taste and experience. Students will learn the rudiments of composing using such entertaining digital tools as Incredibox, Garage Band, and BandLab. Students are encouraged to further develop their understanding of music and how it can be used in the advancement of the Kingdom of God.
