Geography

“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:16-17

OVERVIEW

Year 10 Geography investigates how people, through their actions and circumstances, are connected to places throughout the world in a wide variety of ways, and how these connections help to make and change places and their environments. The role of the environment and human modifications in food and fibre production is also studies, as well as the environmental challenges and constraints on expanding food production in the future. Spatial differences in human wellbeing is also a key focus of the course, including the different ways we measure wellbeing, the cause of global and regional differences in these measures between countries and places, and programs designed to reduce the gap between differences in wellbeing. Our choices and actions as global citizens not only result in local and global impacts, but are fundamental to the sustainability of the planet – our role as stewards of God’s Creation is crucial to the future of our most valuable resources and environments.
